Wonderful Circus
(2021)
Golden Stardust
Wonderful Circus is one of the cornerstone productions of Laterna Magika. Since its premiere in 1977, it has been performed over 6,000 times worldwide, making it one of the longest-running shows in history. Both humorous and profound, this tale of birth and the search for life’s meaning is the quintessential example of Laterna Magika’s artistry: seamlessly merging film and theatre.
Commissioned by the National Theatre, we compiled the story of Wonderful Circus into a printed publication, celebrating its vibrant history. The book is framed by a yellow and red color stripe extending from the cover like molten magma through the publication. It is a metaphor for the circus aesthetic as to the pulse of life.
This project follows our previous work on a book about Laterna Magika, completed a year earlier.
