All The Best!
(2012)
Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague invited me to design posters for an exhibition of Czech Glass Art. For this project, I decided to collaborate with typographer Jan Horčík. At the time, we were both studying at UMPRUM and were part of Prague's graffiti subculture. Here, an experimental tool — hydrochloric acid (acidum hydrochloricum) – was becoming popular.
Glass–Acid–Experiment
In reaction with glass, the acid makes a permanent trace that cannot be cleaned away. We were intrigued by the idea of translating this laboratory procedure from the streets to the institutional setting. So, we decided to paint the text in A1 glass format which was then photographed and printed as a poster.
Originally, we planned to apply the typography directly to the museum's city light displays. However, we abandoned the idea upon discovering that the frames were made of plastic rather than glass.
One important note: When working with glass and acid, extra caution is essential.
